The district administration here has maintained further alertness against the spread of coronavirus after it is categorized as red zone. The District Administration Office here said security was beefed up in the wake of growing number of vehicles entering the district. Additional security is put in place in all side border points – Shadananda and Salpasilochho rural municipalities in north, Arun and Pauwadung rural municipalities in east, Hatuwagadhi and Amchowk rural municipalities in south and Tyamkemaiyung rural municipality in the west. The persons entering the district and staying in quarantine are under close observation now. Chief District Officer Basanta Raj Puri informed that the local levels were directed to continuously monitor the quarantines and furnish information. “Security alertness has been increased here in the wake of the district categorized as the high risk zone,” he added. A 26-year-old youth from Hatuwagadhi rural municipality of the district was found infected with coronavirus on April 23. With this, the District Health Office has intensified the rapid diagnostic tests. A total of 289 persons have undergone the RDT till yesterday. The swab collected from 24 persons who had come in contact with the infected youths was sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for the PCR test. Among them, 17 resulted in negative while the report for remaining eight is awaited.
