17-month child diagnosed with Kala Azar in Bajura

Kathmandu May 13.

When the entire country is struggling to cope with the COVID-19 crisis, acase has been detected in Bajura, a district in the Sudurpaschim State. A child from Gotri of Jagannath Rural Municipality -5 has been diagnosed with the parasitic disease. The case has been detected on the 17-month-old Devindra Budha, said Primary Health Post Kolti’s chief Dr Rajuraj Joshi.

He has fever for around the past one month and was brought to the center on Tuesday. He has been referred to Dhangadhi for further treatment. Intensive care unit (ICU) is needed for his treatment, it is said. The possibility of other cases in the Kolti area could not be denied, it is said. Experts spoke the need of responding the situation by establishing mobile camps in villages.
