Nepal Communist Party (NCP) parliamentary party’s deputy leader Subashchandra Nembang has argued that the opposition parties ought to stand on a ground reality first and then sit for discussion before criticizing the government’s policy and programmes. Taking part in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) convened to deliberate on the government’s policy and programmes for a new fiscal year 2077/078 BS, Nembang shared that the policy and programmes were centered on COVID-19 and relevant issues of the present. Stating that clause-wise discussions were held before formulating the budget for the new fiscal year regarding the current health crisis, the deputy leader reassuringly said, “The policy and programmes for the new fiscal year attempts to incorporate COVID-19 related programmes. Government has provisioned relief packages for those hit hard by COVID-19 and its fallout.” Furthermore, he recalled that the promulgation of constitution was possible due to the unity among the political parties in the parliament and attributed that unity for coming this far. As for addressing some dissenting voices and demands following the promulgation of the constitution, he said that those issues could be discussed to reach a logical conclusion. He viewed that the remaining peace process would be ended in two years by formulating necessary laws and it was also incorporated in the government’s policy and programmes. Calling for unity for fight against COVID-19, he said that we will not be able to get over the pandemic unless we were united. Moreover, the deputy leader reaffirmed the commitment of the government against India’s unilateral act of encroaching upon Nepal’s territories. Highlighting the government’s works of the realm of connectivity, he said that the incumbent government had turned landlocked country Nepal into a land-linked one. He assured that there will not be any blockade like in post-quake days imposed by India over Nepal. Nembang also apprised the parliamentarians that the elimination of hunger and poverty were high in government’s priorities and economic growth and cob creations also equally figure among the priorities of the Nepal. Greener and cleaner Nepal, modernization of agriculture, promotion of domestic products among others have been included in government’s policies and porgrammes for the new fiscal year, according to him. He continued sharing that the government has also adopted the zero-tolerance against corruption. Construction of transmission lines and exporting electricity to India and Bangladesh were also part of the government’s agenda for the next year. As per the policy and programmes, a new map of Nepal will be issued which will also have the encroached territories of Nepal by India.
