CPN-US lawmakers warns the Rulling coalition voting against the budget

Kathmandu, June 21 : Members of the ruling Nepal Communist Party Unified Socialist (NCP-US) have issued a warning to the rulling coalition not to vote against the government’s budget amendment. Dissatisfied with the budget, which they claim was prepared unilaterally and neglected regional balance, NCP-US parliamentarians informed party chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal about their stance on Wednesday for his support in the current situation.

Parliamentarians Rajendra Pande, Krishnakumar Shrestha, and Ambar Bahadur Thapa Lagayat met with Chairman Nepal on Wednesday to discuss their position. After a number of NCP-US lawmakers expressed opposition to the budget, the party has called a meeting of the parliamentary party on Friday to discuss the matter.

“The budget is imbalanced. If a minister only brings the budget to his own district, why should we pass it? Are we just soldiers following orders?” questioned Rajendra Pande, an NCP-US deputy leader, during a meeting with Ekantipur.

Krishnakumar Shrestha, another parliamentarian, also stated that they opposed the budget because it showed favoritism. “The current budget is not balanced. There are discrepancies in it. That’s why we are in a situation where we cannot cast our votes,” said Shrestha. “We need to have discussions within our parliamentary party regarding this issue.”

NCP-US lawmakers have raised objections to the budget, claiming that it is centralized in a particular district, increases taxes on onions and potatoes, and allocates billions of rupees to projects without a detailed project report.
