Kathmandu June 28 : Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has embarked on a five-day visit to China. Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha, along with a seven-member delegation, left for Sichuan Province in China on Tuesday night for an official visit.
Shrestha will land at Chengdu International Airport and will participate in the welcome dinner of the “Western China International Fair” today.
On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha will deliver a special address at the inauguration ceremony of the fair and visit the Chengdu Panda Base and the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. In the evening, he will attend a dinner hosted by the Communist Party of China in Sichuan Province.
On Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha will meet with the leadership of Sichuan University and deliver a speech, including addressing Chinese, Nepali, and other international students. After that, he will visit the laboratories of “Hydraulics” and “Mountain River Engineering” at the university.
A meeting with officials from Sichuan Airlines and the regional investment group is scheduled for the afternoon.
On Saturday morning, he will visit the “Hydro Jackson” and observe the ancient irrigation system and rural reconstruction in Dujiangyan, located in the second Yangtze River region.
Returning from Chengdu on Saturday, he will fly back to Tribhuvan International Airport at 11:10 am.
The delegation includes Lok Bahadur Thapa, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Rudradevi Sharma, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs; Mahesh Baral, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Industry; Suresh Kaji Shrestha, Personal Secretary to Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha; Ashok Ghimire, correspondent of the National News Agency; and Baburam Kharel, security officer.
