Left unity matter will not break relations with Congress: PM Prachanda

Kathmandu, July 3 : Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that despite the unity among the communists, it will not lead to the Nepali Congress drifting away. Speaking at an event organized by the G.P. Koirala Memorial College in Chabahil on the occasion of Girija Prasad Koirala’s centenary, Prime Minister Prachanda said, “When I talk about the unity of the left, it does not mean disunity with the Congress.”

Addressing the program, Prime Minister Prachanda recalled moments spent with former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and mentioned that Girija Koirala has been a source of inspiration for him. However, he also admitted his mistake in not making him the first President of the Republic of Nepal in the past.

Prime Minister Prachanda stated that he feels like becoming Prime Minister again, seeing the danger looming over the nation and federal democracy. He said, “I won’t shy away from becoming Prime Minister by forming an alliance with either the UML or the Congress whenever needed.”

He described his unusual experience, saying, “I was firm and clear in my commitment to fight against internal problems within the country.” Prime Minister Prachanda expressed his commitment to work together with the Nepali Congress to safeguard democracy, peace process, and lead the country towards prosperity.

Prachanda stated that there is a need for another peaceful revolution in favor of good governance, prosperity, and justice. He mentioned that there is no possibility of improvement happening in a general manner.

He further stated, “I had proposed Girija Prasad Koirala as the first President of the Republic of Nepal, but I couldn’t make it happen. After I made up my mind to resign as Prime Minister, Girija Babu also refused to resign time and again.”

Girija, who called him alone when he was admitted to the hospital, had expressed deep faith and trust by saying, “Take care of this country.” Prime Minister Prachanda mentioned that Girija had immense faith and trust in him.

He also assured that the proposal presented to establish a university in the name of Girija Prasad Koirala will be taken forward by the Cabinet.
