The PM denies having said that he became the PM with the support of India: DPM Shrestha

Chitwan, July 6 : Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha stated that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda did not say that he became the Prime Minister with the support of India. Although the Prime Minister himself clarified this matter.

Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Center Nepal in Bharatpur, Chitwan, on Thursday morning, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha mentioned that Prachanda did not make any statement about becoming the Prime Minister with the support of India.

“It is understood by everyone that our Prime Minister is elected by the Parliament of Nepal and he is the leader who struggles the most for this elected government and the governance system of the people. In that sense, what the Prime Minister said is not true,” he said.

Regarding the formation of the government of Nepal, Shrestha also mentioned that he did not go abroad to seek the support or approval of foreign countries. He stated, “Even in the news that comes from outside, I did not send a message to India and say that I became the Prime Minister with the support of India.”

He further clarified that if anyone supports due to personal greetings, it becomes a different matter. Shrestha said, “Wherever I go, if I say I will support, it means his matter. But the Prime Minister of Nepal does not come to an end from anywhere, he comes from here.”

In another context, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Shrestha mentioned that the government has accepted the work done by the government in a positive manner, emphasizing that the government has done works in favor of the people. He said, “Whatever work the government has done, instead of looking at it negatively, accept it positively. Other than the perspective of looking at it negatively, there is nothing.”

Regarding the case of Bhutanese refugees and Lalita Niwas land scam, Minister Shrestha stated that the police have conducted a clean and independent investigation and the government has been working to ensure justice for the victims of the meter scam.
