Kathmandu , July 20 : On Thursday, a Chinese national was detained at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on suspicion of participating in the smuggling of gold.
Jekyong Lin, a 36-year-old man who had arrived in Nepal seven months earlier, was detained by immigration authorities. Concerns have been expressed by the authorities regarding his alleged involvement in gold smuggling while residing in Nepal.
His case will be handled by an agent from the Department of Revenue Investigation. Authorities believe that the person who was arrested is connected to the roughly 100 kilogrammes of gold that were seized on Tuesday in conjunction with a scooter’s brake that was imported from Hong Kong.
