Kathmandu, July 23 : Yuan Jiajun, a member of the CPC Politburo who is now in Nepal, spoke virtually with Prime Minister and Chairman of the Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda. Chinese leader Yuan Chi Chun is in Nepal while Prime Minister Prachanda is in Italy.
Prachanda and Yuan had a virtual conversation on Sunday, according to the Prime Minister’s office. It was planned to start at 4 PM local time. The conversation centred on the shared interests of the two nations. The two leaders talked on bilateral cooperation and partnership for mutual interest, particularly in relation to the planned official visit of Prachanda to China.
Later this evening, CPC leader Yuan is scheduled to hold a dinner meeting with officials, including the Vice-Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center), Narayan Kaji Shrestha.
The CPC delegation will meet President Ramchandra Paudel, Foreign Minister NP Saud and senior leaders of various political parties. The Chinese leader is scheduled to meet the President at 3pm, according to the President’s Office.
CPC Politburo member Yuan arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday during a three-day visit to Nepal. He is on a tour of South Asian countries and has arrived in Nepal after visiting Sri Lanka.
Yuan Jiajun, arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday leading a 26-member delegation.
The Chinese leader was welcomed by Dev Gurung, general secretary of the CPN (Maoist Centre), and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song.
Yuan arrived in Kathmandu after completing his visit to Sri Lanka where he had met several Sri Lankan leaders, including former president Mahinda Rajapaksa. Ahead of his visit, a CPC delegation arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday via a Sri Lankan Air flight in order to lay the ground for Yuan’s visit.
