Kathmandu: While living in the village, socially active Anitadevi Sah has always believed that she might have a chance to become a federal minister.
However, such rare opportunities in politics have eluded her. She served as the federal minister of federal affairs and general administration in Singhadurbar as she thought.
At 41 years old, Anita, who was elected as a proportional representative from the Janmat party, holds a bachelor’s degree in population studies.
Interestingly, in the past local elections, she was the mayoral candidate for Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City.
But she only received a very small number of votes. This marked the turning point that opened the door to Singhadurbar for her.
Political Activist Dr. CK Raut started working with farmers in a movement nine years ago. Anita actively participated in the movement related to farmers. Since then, her interest in politics grew.
Eventually, as the Janakpur in-charge of the Janamat Party, she worked for three months.
Chairman of Janamat party in the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections held on November 21, 2022. CK Raut won a field. Similarly, Janmat became the National Party by getting almost five lakh votes from Terai Madhesh and other regions.
It won 5 seats proportionally after Janmat became a national party. After getting those five seats, Anita got the opportunity to become an MP.
From the very beginning of joining the Janamat Party, her active involvement in politics made her a natural leader. According to this, she has also become a parliamentarian. In the first phase of becoming a parliamentarian, she got the opportunity to become a minister.
Before this, on Chait 17, 2079 BS Abdul Khan, who was the Minister of Drinking Water from Janamat Party, resigned. After Abdul Khan’s resignation, Janamat was not represented in the government.
What CK Raut says
Dr. CK Raut says that Anita has been a leader who led the farmer’s movement in Madhes. According to Raut, under her leadership, the police fired shots during a protest in Dhanusha’s Portaham, where Anita and four other workers, including her husband, were injured. After firing the shots, the police surrounded them and engaged in physical violence.
Before the movement, she entered the party and was appointed as the Dhanusha District in-charge. Raut has also mentioned that she led the expansion campaign of the organization as the chief in the region from Birgunj to Madhes.
Anita was also the chair of the organizing committee of the Janamat Party’s convention held in Janakpur. Currently, she is the national secretary of the Janamat Party. She was also given the responsibility of the chief Whip of the parliamentary party.
Having a bachelor’s degree in population studies, she has previously worked in various organizations, including those related to human rights in Nepal. She has worked in organizations in this sector before.
