General public’s confidence to the govt. and its agencies has decreased: PM Prachanda

Kathmandu: The Office of the Auditor General has provided information regarding the preparation of the audit of the fiscal year 2080/081. In a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office, Singh Durbar, on Wednesday afternoon, Deputy Auditor General Maheshwor Kafle briefed the office’s current situation, upcoming plans, and agenda.

The office has informed that it will conduct audits of government offices across the country in three phases. The audit office has informed about the appointment of auditors at the under-secretary and officer levels for the audit, and assistant-level auditors will be mobilized.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ emphasized that the government is committed to good governance, financial discipline, and transparency. He stated that all branches of the state should earn the trust of the people to carry out their work effectively.

The Prime Minister urged for this year to be significant in terms of good governance and transparency. He also mentioned his sensitivity towards the role the government needs to play in this regard.

“We are in a grand campaign for social justice, good governance, and prosperity. Good governance, financial discipline, and transparency are crucial conditions for it. However, there is a weak trust among the general public in various aspects of the state. The level of honesty and transparency has decreased. This situation must change. We need to think seriously about how to establish credibility, ensure transparency, and maintain good governance,” said Prime Minister Prachanda.

“The state’s organs must not only be responsible but also achieve expected progress in good governance, transparency, and accountability,” the Prime Minister said. “I have confidence that as you have planned a more effective audit than last year, you will achieve success.”
