It does the publication of the Lal Commission report: Prachanda

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has indicated that he is in favor of making the report of the Lal Commission public. In a program organized on Saturday on the occasion of the 17th National Information Day, he stated that he had not made any decision to keep the Lal Commission’s report confidential. The issue of the Lal Commission’s report has been raised, as well as the matter of another secretary.

“I am in favor of making that report public from the very beginning,” he said. He mentioned that the commission led by the then Chief Justice Girish Chandra Lal, formed to study the use of force and excesses during the Madhes and Tharu movements in the year 2072, had submitted a report to the government. However, the said report has not been made public.

Prime Minister Prachanda also mentioned that it is necessary to establish a legal system to keep personal details, including the property-related information of individuals in public office, confidential. He said that he was inspired to provide information on issues such as entering public institutions, corruption, wrong decisions, and non-transparent behavior and to establish legal provisions for the protection of information as evidence in such matters.
