Seven pilgrims, including a citizen of Nepal, died in a bus accident

Bara: A bus carrying pilgrims, traveling from Kathmandu to Mahottari, overturned 50 meters below the road in Churiyamai, Bara, resulting in the deaths of 7 people, including one Nepali and six Indian citizens. 19 others have been injured.

The accident occurred when the bus with the registration number Province 3-001 Kha 7994, traveling from Janakpur to Mahottari’s Loharpatti, overturned. Among the deceased Indian citizens, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Bahadur Kshetri of the local police office, are Shrikant Chaturvedi, Bahadur Singh, Satyavati, Meera Devi, Rajendra Chaturvedi, and Vaijanti Devi from Rajasthan. They were in the age group of 60 to 70 years, as stated by them.

Three people, including the driver, of the bus traveling from Janakpur-7 to Khan, have been brought under control by the police in a critical condition after the accident. The accident occurred at around 2 AM on Thursday morning. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Bahadur Kshetri of the local police office, the injured passengers are receiving treatment at Hetuonda Hospital. He also mentioned that due to the speed at which the bus was traveling, the accident could have been more serious.

Further investigation into the incident is underway. The mobile phone of the driver has been recovered from the accident site, and additional details have been obtained from other sources, as informed by the police. The bus was carrying 27 passengers, including 3 drivers and bus staff, at the time of the accident. The bus had skidded in a ditch about 100 meters south of Churiyamai temple, Bara.
