No chance of rainfall for a few days

Kathmandu, Nov. 17:Farmers in the Tarai region can proceed with harvesting their paddy without any disruption for another three to four days, as there is no chance of rainfall in the first part of the coming week.

According to Rojan Lamichhane, a senior meteorologist at the Meteorological Forecast Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), the weather is expected to remain clear for a couple of days, as no weather system has developed to affect Nepal for another few days.

A weather system known as a “Deep Depression” has developed in the west-central part of the Bay of Bengal. This system has brought only light clouds to the Koshi and Gandaki Provinces while the other provinces are expected to remain clear, Lamichhane said.

According to him, the impact of the system is limited to India, Bangladesh and Myanmar. Nevertheless, there is a possibility of light snowfall in the high mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

According to DHM, on Friday, the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces are expected to be slightly cloudy while the rest of the country will experience fair weather. 

There is a possibility of light snowfall at one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of these provinces.

On Thursday, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu remained at 10.2 degrees Celsius. Jomsom recorded the lowest temperature at minus 4.5 degrees Celsius, while Jumla measured at minus 0.7 degrees Celsius in the last
