Humla, Dec. 15: Newly constructed two quake-resilient community schools have been handed over to the community in Simkot Rural Municipality-7, and 8 in Humla district.
The schools were built in Chauganfaya in Ward No. 7 and Santa in Ward No. 8
Balbir Shahi, ward chairman of Simkot Rural Municipality-7, said that the five-room school for Karnali Secondary School, Chauganfaya, has been handed over to the community.
The building was constructed for the first time in the district using a new method after testing the soil. The school was built with a financial assistance of Rs. 4.5 million provided by Aadhar Bikas Nepal. Locals had also voluntarily contributed their labour to construct the school. The total construction cost of the school is Rs. 5.5 million.
Similarly, the earthquake-resistant three-room school building of Balbhadra Basic School was built in Santa, said Kamal Budha, the ward chair of the ward. Aadhaar Bikas also handed it over to the community through the School Management Committee.
