CIAA draws Bagmati govt’s attention regarding policies, programmes

Hetauda, Dec. 17: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Hetauda, has drawn attention to the Bagmati Province government regarding the addition of policies and programmes in the middle of the fiscal year.

According to the CIAA Hetauda Office, the provincial government was going to add programmes and policies in the middle of the fiscal year. The provincial government and opposition parties -Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party were preparing to introduce new programmes and policies in the current fiscal year. CIAA Hetauda Office drew the attention of the provincial government by sending a 22-point suggestion letter on Saturday.

After the Hetauda CIAA office sent an attention letter, Bagmati Province Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel said that they might add new programmes and policies since many good programmes and plans have been overlooked while preparing the budget at the beginning of the fiscal year. 

The progress report of the fiscal year 2023-24 of the CIAA Hetauda Office states that it received complaints regarding the lack of systematic and policy-based decisions on matters related to financial responsibilities. 

Out of 880 complaints filed at the office in the last fiscal year and 904 complaints filed until mid-November, the highest number of complaints were related to money embezzlement. It received a total of 675 revenue embezzlement complaints, with 153 complaints decided till now. Similarly, out of 424 complaints related to illegal acquaintance of assets, 109 complaints had been processed. 

The office informed that it received complaints regarding the leasing and renting of public land at low prices, mid-day meals, scholarships budget allocation without planning and preparation for the procurement process, making contracts and hiring employees against the law.
