Chitwan, Jan 2: ‘Chicken and Egg Festival’ has been organised on the occasion of the 11th National Poultry Day to explain the importance of chicken meat and egg.     

Nepal Poultry Entrepreneurs’ Forum organised the festival at Namaste Chowk of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-2 under the theme ‘Variety of chicken meat and egg. Basis of healthy life’ this year. Chicken meat and eggs were distributed free of cost at the festival.     

On the occasion, Vice-Chairperson of Nepal Poultry Federation, Tikaram Pokhrel, said consumption of chicken meat and eggs has not increased because of not being able to make people understand the importance of chicken meat and eggs.     

It would be fruitful if the importance of chicken meat and egg could be explained at the school level, he mentioned.     

Similarly, Forum Chairperson Raghu Nath Bhatta shared that poultry entrepreneurs have been hit hard due to the economic crisis seen in the country in recent periods.     

Stating that white meat is beneficial for health, he pointed out that it was necessary to make people understand its importance as it is useful for all types of patients.     

A week-long programme organised on the occasion of the Day was also concluded. A total of 1,947 students of 26 community schools were explained about the importance of chicken meat and egg under the week-long programme.     

A morning rally was taken out as well as blood donation programme was also organised today on the occasion of National Poultry Day.     

The establishment of Central Hatchery at Parawanipur of Bara on Push 17, 2017 BS, has been considered the beginning of the modern poultry business in Nepal. Nepal has been observing the National Poultry Day on the same day, Push 17, every year. (RSS)
