Feb 6: The Hetauda Cement Industry, which had shut down since October because of a lack of coal, has resumed its operation from Monday.
The Hetauda Cement Industry at Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-9, which is under full ownership of the government, has come into operation with the supply of coal.
Industry General Manager Basanta Raj Pandey said that the industry resumed with the resumption of the supply of coal after the payment of dues.
The industry had shut down because of a lack of coal which was stopped as the payment was not made.
The industry was at a loss for some time but the payment was made to the suppliers by selling the cements that were in stock.
The industry has been closing time and again, sometimes because of coal and other times breakdown of equipment.
The machines and equipment of the 4-decade-old industry are dilapidated and it is difficult for it to get to profit or compensate for the losses.
According to Pandey, the industry will continue to close down until and unless new equipment is fixed.
It produces 750 metric tons of cement per day, but, due to shut down of the industry, the stocked cement was sold and then the dues were paid from it.
He said that of the 249,000 cements that were produced in the current fiscal year, 100,000 are in stock.
Established in 1975 by the government, the factory started commercial production in 1986.
