Kathmandu: Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the vice-chairperson of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), has been arrested.
The information has provided by Inspector General (IG) Basanta Kunwar, who was arrested from Kapilvastu. He is currently being brought to Kathmandu.
A high-level investigation commission formed to probe the case of alleged misconduct in the gold smuggling case had recommended taking action against Mahara. Following the recommendation, the Ministry of Home Affairs had directed the police to take action. His son, Rahul Mahara, is currently in custody in connection with the gold smuggling case.
