Police Post fails to shift to new building in lack of running water

Hile, Apr. 8: The newly constructed police office in Chhatharjorpati-6 near Sidhuwa Bazaar, Dhankuta failed to come into operation after the area lacked sources of water. After the completion of the building, the then police chief of Koshi Province Ishwar Babu Karki inaugurated it in June 2021.

The newly constructed building has still not come into operation, due to the scarcity of running water. Owing to this reason, the previous police post in Sidhuwa has not been able to shift to the newly constructed building.

The two-storey building has been furnished with a barrack, detention cell, mess, toilet and bathroom. As the building was not in use, some window ventilations were vandalised.

It is difficult to move to the newly constructed building as it lacks running water and is constructed in a hilly area with limited access to roads and market area, said SP Shyam Singh Chaudhary, Chief of the District Police Office, Dhankuta.  It is difficult to transport water to the newly constructed building owing to the dilapidated condition of the road, said SP Chaudhary.

Deepak Gurung, the ward chairman of Chatharjorpati-6, said that there are no sources of water in the area, and since the lift irrigation project is under construction, water can be supplied only after the lift project is completed. At present, the police office is running in a simple and congested building in Sidhuwa market.
