Kathmandu, Apr. 9: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) unveiled the new jersey of the National Cricket team for the ICC T20 World Cup.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Birajbhakta Shrestha and Member Secretary of National Sports Council, Tankalal Ghising jointly unveiled the jersey during the function held in Kathmandu.
The jersey, coloured in blue, red, light grey and white, features a rhinoceros and Mount Everest at the bottom, with “Nepal” written in the middle. The logo of CAN is on the left and the logo of ICC T20 World Cup is on the right.
Additionally, the flag of Nepal is placed on both sleeves, and the player’s name and number will be displayed on the back of the jersey. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in America and the West Indies starting from June 1.
Nepal is placed in Group D, alongside South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands. This marks Nepal’s return to the T20 World Cup after a 10-year absence, with their last appearance being in the 2014 tournament held in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the Nepali cricket team will be leaving for Oman to play the ACC Premier Cup directly from India, where the senior side won the title of the SMS Friendship Cup played against Gujrat and Baroda Cricket Association. Nepal played the tournament in Gujarat to prepare for the ACC Premier Cup starting from April 12. Nepal has also taken the Premier Cup as a preparation for the T20 World Cup.
Drawn in Group A, Nepal will start its title defence at the Premier Cup by playing against Malaysia on April 12, taking on Qatar on April 13, and Hong Kong on April 15. The winner of the Premier Cup will be selected for the 2025 T20 Asia Cup.
