The Kathmandu: Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, who is on a visit to India, had a courtesy call on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The meeting took place on Monday evening at the Hyderabad House, which has been prepared to meet foreign guests. There was a discussion of half an hour between them.

The Indian delegation included External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

Bhrigu Dhungana, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, acting ambassador to India a Dr. Surendra Thapa, and Counsellor Durpada Sapkota were also present from Nepalese side.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Rana handed over the invitation letter of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Indian Prime Minister Modi to visit Nepal.

Prime Minister Oli had also extended an invitation to Modi through Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who had earlier visited Nepal.

This is the first high-level visit from Nepal to India since the formation of the government with the consensus of the major parties Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.

After meeting with PM Modi, Rana posted his social media ‘I also handed over an invitation from Rt. Hon Prime Minister @kpsharmaoli to PM Modi ji for a state visit to Nepal.’

Rana, who wanted to go to India for treatment, was suddenly turned into a formal visit. He is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on a five-day visit to India.
