Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli clarified that Nepal is not a photocopy of any country. He made this statement in response to the advice given by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ the Chairman of the Maoist Centre and former Prime Minister, who suggested learning from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Speaking in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli asserted that he has nothing to fear because he has not made any mistakes.

“Yesterday or so, Mr Prachanda advised learning from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Did I kill 17 thousand people to make a living? Have I looted and robbed to make a living? I have nothing to be afraid of,” Prime Minister Oli said during his address.

He further responded to Prachanda, saying, “You are loudly advocating to learn from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. I want to say—learn well.”

Oli claimed that Nepal has its own history and traditions and stated that nothing like what happened in Bangladesh will occur in Nepal.

“In today’s time, one cannot run things in a disorderly manner. Just because something happened in Bangladesh, does it mean it will happen in Nepal? Nepal is not a photocopy machine of any country,” Oli said, “We have our own history and traditions. We fought for our democracy. We have written in the constitution that we stand by this, and I have the authority to say that. I am not saying I wrote it, we all did.”

Recalling that he survived a helicopter crash from 5,000 feet above, Oli claimed that he has no fear of anyone.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that violent activities like those of the past can never happen again in Nepal and will not be allowed to happen.

“Nepal has its own identity, civilization, and culture. What happened in Bangladesh will not happen here. We are committed to strengthening the democracy and constitution that we fought for. Those who fight against democracy cannot scare us,” Prime Minister Oli said, “To those who loudly tell us to learn, I want to say—learn well—disorder, anarchy, and violent politics are no longer possible in Nepal. They will not be allowed.”

Recalling the indiscriminate violent activities of the Maoists, Prime Minister Oli said that he strongly opposed violence and took the initiative for political dialogue to find a solution. He stated that in a democratic system, any activity or anarchy that violates the rights of others will be legally stopped by the state.
