Bandipur to take action against contractors

Tanahun, Sept. 5: Bandipur Rural Municipality in Tanahun district has decided to take action against contractors who fail to comply with the terms of their agreements for various projects running under the municipality.

The rural municipality will take action against builders and construction companies that delay projects and fail to complete them as per the agreement.

Surendra Thapa, chairman of the Rural Municipality, said that action was being taken against construction companies that failed to meet deadlines after signing contract agreements.

Thapa said, “We are preparing to confiscate the deposit amount of companies that fail to complete work on time, cause delays, or do not maintain quality standards.”

The rural municipality has also initiated the process of recommending the Public Procurement Monitoring Office to blacklist the construction companies that delay or stall construction work.

The rural municipality council has stated that to discourage the tendency of delaying the construction work under various pretexts, contractors will be given a one-time opportunity to proceed with the work.

If they continue to do so, action will be taken according to the rules, the council informed.

Shiva Kumar Shrestha, spokesman for the rural municipality and chairman of Ward-1, stated that it has been recommended to blacklist contractors who have failed to complete their work even six years after the signing the contract.

He said, “We are recommending action because contractors have stalled the projects despite receiving them on time.”
