New York: While participating in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in the United States, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli of Nepal and his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, held a meeting. Prime Minister Oli, who is leading the Nepali delegation to the 79th UN General Assembly in New York, had a discussion today with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of neighboring India.
Prime Minister Modi had traveled to New York to address the Quad Leaders’ Summit and the UN’s “Summit of the Future” program. Prime Minister Oli also participated in the “Summit of the Future.”
The meeting between the two leaders was attended by the foreign ministers and other officials from both countries. This is the first meeting between the leaders of the two countries since Oli was elected as Prime Minister.
After Oli’s primership, India had given a cold response, and there had been no prior indication of a meeting with Modi while Oli was in the U.S. According to sources, officials suggested that if the two prime ministers participated in the same event without meeting, it might give the impression of India’s reluctance. Following this, Modi agreed to meet with Oli.
