Kathmandu, Oct.3: The government of Israel has selected 2,112 people from a ‘lucky draw’ from those who applied for auxiliary workers in long-term care centers.

Of the total list of 3,461 people sent to the Population and Immigration Authority (PIWA) in Israel by the Department of Foreign Employment, 2200 made it to the list however names of only 2,112 people were made public after finding flaws in some submitted documents. 1156 (females) and 956 (males) making a total of 2,112 have been selected through a lucky draw. 

According to the department, the names of 88 people selected in the lucky draw were removed after finding the submitted documents flawed. 

According to the labor contract between Nepal and the Israeli side, it is mentioned that the assistant workers sent to the long-term care center will be selected with the consent of both sides. There is no involvement of the private sector. 

Nepali workers selected to go to Israel must work in the long-term care center there for the care of people with severe disabilities under the age of 65, according to the department.

 Israel has started taking caregivers as auxiliary workers to long-term care centers since August 2022. So far, 1,300 people have gone.

According to the department, according to the labor agreement between Nepal and Israel, Nepali workers are being sent to long-term care centers through government mechanisms. There is no involvement of the private sector.
