Lumbini tastes 1st win in NPL defeating Chitwan

Kathmandu, Dec 10: Lumbini Lions registered its first win in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) defeating Chitwan Rhinos by 33 runs on Tuesday at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

Batting first, Lumbini posted a target of 168 runs against Chitwan in the stipulated 20 overs in 6 wickets.

Following a target, Chitwan scored just 134 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets.

To stop Chitwan from achieving the target, Lumbini’s captain Rohit Paudel took four wickets alone by giving 17 just runs in four over’s spell. Ramon Simmonds took two wickets. Similarly, Saad Bin Zafar and Abhishesh Gautam took a single wicket each.

Chitwan’s Luc Benkenstein hit the highest 31 runs, Nar Sarki 22, Kushal Malla 20, Rijan Dhakal 15, Ravi Bopara 12, and Santosh Karki scored 10 runs but couldn’t stop their teams’ loss against Lumbini.

This is the first win of Lumbini Lions after losing four consecutive losses in NPL.

Earlier, with a half-century each from Captain Paudel and Saad Bin Zafar Lumbini succeed in managing a challenging total against Chitwan. Paudel and Zafar scored 80 and 52 runs respectively. Similarly, Arjun Saud scored 15 runs, Tom Moores scored 10 runs.
