Kathmandu, Jan 8: With the arrival of the Maghe Sankranti festival becoming nearer the varieties of the yams are becoming available in the market.

The yam varieties are known as Ban Tarul, Seto Tarul, Pani Tarul, Hattipaile, the root of Josephine, Patale Tarul, Madhesi Tarul, Simal Tarul and Rato Tarul among others.

Shopkeepers at the Kalimati Vegetable Market said that yams arrived in the market from Sarlahi, Dhading, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk among other districts.
