Kathmandu: In the ongoing gold smuggling case, the police arrested additional Chinese citizens with charges after the recovery of 60 kilograms and 716 grams of gold on July 18.
Three men and one woman have been apprehended in this arrest.
According to the spokesperson of Nepal Police, DIG Kuber Kadayat, these Chinese citizens were apprehended from Kathmandu and handed over to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) team for further investigation.
The identities of these newly arrested Chinese citizens have not been disclosed by the police. They have been brought to Kathmandu District Court for further remand.
The court has granted a 5-day remand for them. Previously, the court had also granted the same period of remand for the 17 individuals arrested in connection with the smuggling.
In the case related to the aforementioned gold, the Department of Revenue Investigation apprehended 17 individuals and handed them over to the CIB, which is currently investigating the matter.
