Provision of three levels of goverments is guaranteed in Constituion: PM Prachanda

Kathmandu, Dec 15: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said that the constitution of Nepal has guaranteed all three levels of government based on cooperation and coexistence.  

Addressing the 29th-anniversary ceremony of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Friday, the PM said the formation of the federal law falls on the priority to strengthen the federal republic democratic state as reflected in the constitution. 

He said that only after the formation of the federal laws and their proper implementation, the federal system can be used for the wellbeing of the denizens. Therefore, the Nepal government is committed to strengthening local government including KMC to bring more maturity in exercising the constitution. 

Kathmandu is not only the capital of the country but also the cultural city, which is one of the oldest cities in the world.  

PM said, “The art, culture, lifestyle, and cuisine have made Kathmandu known to the world as an open museum. The protection of such splendors on the one hand marks the unique global identity and on the other hand, also contributes to uplifting the life of denizens through tourism promotion. Therefore, the development, promotion and protection of culture and civilization and the scenic beauty of the city is and should be the national responsibility of the country. 

The PM said that he is closely observing the developmental work lately done in the city. 

He said, “The initiatives taken by the metropolis in the field of uplifting scenic beauty, management and development of education, construction and management of public toilets, protection of cultural heritage, regulation of narcotics, drugs and tobacco, ensuring scholarships, employment opportunities, has given positive motivation to the federal government.”
