7,000 shelters built in Rukum West for quake victims

Rukum West, Dec. 31: Around 7,079 temporary houses have been built in Rukum West with the grant given by the government to the earthquake victims, and an additional 9,341 temporary houses are under construction.

According to Hari Prasad Pant, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Rukum West, Rs. 592 million has been transferred from the District Disaster Fund to the Local Disaster Fund so far, but only seven thousand houses have been built with the grant amount. 

According to the District Administration Office, 3,014 temporary shelters have been built in Athabiskot Municipality and 4,100 shelters are under construction. 

In Chaurjahari Municipality, 265 constructions have been completed and 2,400 constructions are under construction. Similarly, in Musikot Municipality, only 24 have been constructed so far and 48 are being constructed.

Similarly, 3,042 temporary houses have been constructed in Saniveri Rural Municipality so far and an additional 2,203 are being built. In Triveni Rural Municipality, 617 houses have been built and 550 houses are under construction. 

Similarly, 117 buildings have been built in Banphikot Rural Municipality and 40 buildings are under construction.

CDO Pant said that the amount of the first instalment for 23,608 beneficiaries from the District Disaster Fund has been sent to the respective Local Disaster Fund. The local level has deposited Rs. 493 million in the accounts of 19,717 beneficiaries.

In Chaurjahari Municipality, Rs. 150 million have been sent from the District Disaster Fund for 6,279 beneficiaries, while the municipality has collected Rs. 148.4 in the accounts of 5,938 beneficiaries. Rs. 175 million sent for 7,000 beneficiaries in Aathbiskot Municipality has been fully deposited in the accounts of the benificaries.
