City Hospital in Lalbandi boosts service

,Sarlahi, Jan.30: City Hospital in Lalbandi Municipality has made notable improvements in recent days resulting in the influx of patients seeking treatment. The hospital is now serving approximately 100 patients daily, signalling a positive turn of events.

Half of the patients seeking treatment at the hospital are beneficiaries of health insurance. The recent addition of gynaecologists and obstetricians has led to many safe deliveries, indicating a growing demand for these specialised services.

Dr. Rambishwash Raya, Hospital Chief and Obstetrician, shared that on average, 30 to 35 pregnant women visit the hospital each month for delivery. Plans are underway to introduce surgery services within the next few weeks, with the necessary manpower already in place.

“Needed manpower has been arranged to begin the operation service. We will initiate the service immediately after we acquire the required tools and equipment,” said Raya.

Dr. Raya attributed the surge in the number of patients to the inclusion of specialist doctors, with three MBBS doctors currently serving at the hospital. He expressed a commitment to further enhance the hospital’s services.

“We have made improvements, including specialists, equipment and infrastructure, and will continue with necessary enhancements,” added Raya.

The hospital’s upgrade to a City Hospital on January 12 marked a significant development, with the primary health centre transforming into Lalbandi City Hospital.

Surendra Khatiwada, the Coordinator of Lalbandi Municipality Health Branch, revealed that the hospital, now equipped with 15 beds, is in its final stages of completion.

Khatiwada emphasised the imminent launch of operation services related to delivery, pending the procurement of essential equipment such as the operation bed and OT light. “We are ready with skilled manpower to run the operation theatre as soon as we secure the necessary resources,” said Khatiwada.

The municipality has recently appointed essential healthcare professionals, including pharmacists and radiologists, indicating a concerted effort to bolster the hospital’s capabilities. Lalbandi City Hospital, strategically located along the East-West Highway, aims to evolve into a well-equipped and efficiently organised healthcare centre for the region.

Recognising the challenges faced by patients, particularly from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, who often struggle with high costs in private hospitals, the transformation of City Hospital aims to address these issues.

Patients from neighbouring municipalities are also increasingly seeking medical treatment at Lalbandi City Hospital.
