Weapons not renewed for more than five years to be seized

Khajura, April 9: The District Administration Office (DAO) Banke, is going to confiscate licensed weapons that have not been renewed for more than five years.

According to the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Banke Shravan Kumar Pokhrel, the Banke administration as per the latest directive given by the Ministry of Home Affairs, has prepared to cancel and confiscate the licenses of all licensed weapons that have not been renewed for more than five years. 

He said that the need to check the condition of licensed weapons rose, as the doubt that unlicensed people might have been carrying them and abuse of weapons might have increased.  Those who have obtained licenses are only allowed to carry them.

He said that a public notice was issued because it was difficult to track and have an update on the physical location of weapons that have not been renewed each year and also, to monitor and regulate them. 

According to the public notice issued by the DAO, Banke, one has to be present at the DAO, Banke with licensed weapons within 35 days of notice. 

“There is a directive of the Home Ministry to cancel and seize licensed weapons that have not been renewed for more than five years,” said CDO Pokhrel. 

He said that there are a majority of weapons that have yet to be renewed but did not ascertain an exact number.
