Syangja, Aug.16: Two people have been arrested for misappropriating cooperative funds in Syangja.
According to the Police, two people have been arrested for embezzling money from the service center of Suryodaya Savings and Credit Cooperative Limited, which has its head office at Badkhola, Putali Bazaar, the headquarters.
The Police Inspector of the District Police Office, Syangja, Umesh Lal Shrestha said that Tarendra Bahadur KC, chairperson of the Cooperative’s Service Center located in Biruwa Rural municipality, and Sandhya Bhandari, an employee working in the customer service department of the Muktinath Development Bank, Biruwa Branch, were arrested.
Chief Manager Dhruv Narayan Shrestha of the Cooperatives and other savers had filed a complaint saying that the amount of Rs 36.6 million of the cooperative was embezzled. Police arrested them in line with the filed complaint.
While investigating the case by taking under control the then manager Jiwan Wagle two weeks ago, they found the involvement of KC, Secretary Surya Bahadur Kunwar and bank employee Bhandari during the questioning. Based on Wangle’s statement the police sought permission from the district court to arrest, KC, Kunwar and Bandari.
Two weeks ago, the police arrested Jeevan Wagle, the then-manager of the plant service center, and are investigating. Based on Wagle’s statement, the police sought permission from the district court to arrest KC, the president of the service center, Surya Bahadur Kunwar, the secretary, and Bhandari, an employee of Muktinath Bank.
According to the order of the court, police arrested KC and Bhandari and started an investigation. Kunwar has not been arrested. Kunwar is currently also the chairman of the village village.
