Skywalk tower lures tourists in Bhedetar

Hile, Sept. 5: The skywalk tower, which is built at Bhedetar of Dhankuta, a popular tourist destination in the east, has been instrumental to attract tourists.

A sky walk tower has become a hub of adventure for national and international tourists. It has been brought into operation at Bhedetar of Sagurigadhi Rural Municipliaty-6. 

Currently, more than 300 tourists visit here every day and more than 2,000 on Saturdays to enjoy new and adventure destinations.

Jitendra Rai, Chairman of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality, said that the number of domestic and foreign tourists has increased significantly in Bhedatar after the operation of the sky walk.

He claimed that more than 22,000 people have enjoyed the skywalk during one-and-a-half months. Skywalk has helped to make the tourism sector operational after COVID-19 pandemic. 

The sky walk is a 41 metres long, 2 metres wide and 18.5 metres high tower. From the sky walk, different places in 14 districts of the east can be viewed. The skywalk has been constructed by the Wanderers Amusement Park Pvt. Ltd. in coordination with the Province Investment Authority, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City and Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality at an investment of Rs. 200 million.

Sanjeev Rokka, Executive Director of the project, said that the project has been brought into operation after the agreement of the revenue collected by Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City and the provincial government.  

The project is expected to create opportunity of more than 120 employments directly and indirectly. It is expected to move the local economy and contribute to the overall development of the Bhedatar area.  Businessman Bishnu Raj Shrestha, said that the number of tourists has increased after the operation of sky walk.

According to Shrestha, the number of tourists from Nepal, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim and other places of India has increased after the skywalk came into operation.  The skywalk has the capacity to bear up to 25 people at a time. Walking here will feel like walking in the open sky and adventure tourism lovers will be able to enjoy it, he said.
