Kathmandu, Oct.27: The day of October 26, Saturday, has been marked as a historic and unforgettable day for the Nepali community, and the Baltimore Association of Nepalese in America (BANA) as it hoisted a Nepali flag in the courtyard of the community building of BANA in American land.
It has been claimed that BANA has become the first Nepali organization to build its community building and organize a program in the USA. There was a special program to lift a Nepali flag in the courtyard of the community building of BANA, based in Baltimore, Maryland.
BANA, an umbrella organization of Nepalese in the city of Baltimore, Maryland, USA, works for the welfare of the Nepali American community in Baltimore and Maryland, partnering with local and state governments on various empowerment programs and projects.
Surya Timilsina and Hemanta Timilsina briefed about BANA amid the meet and greet program of officials of BANA.
Baltimore County executive John Anthony Olszewski Jr. also known by his nickname Johnny O, was a chief Guest of the event.
Chairperson of BANA Subodh Bilash Panta, lifted a Nepali flag, Dr Harry Bhandari, the first Maryland State Delegate from the Nepali-origin community, raised a flag of Maryland State and Chief Guest Johnny 0 hoisted a flag of United States of America (USA).
The program was addressed by the Chief Guest and other guests.
Chairman of BANA Trustees Kul Mani Acharya conducted a program.
There was a participation of Sanjay Thapa, President of Overseas Nepali Forum (ONF), and other personalities in the historic event.
