46 quake victims undergoing treatment at Bheri Hospital

Nepalgunj, Nov. 8: Among those who sustained injuries in the November 3 earthquake, 46 individuals are currently receiving treatment at Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj.

Chief District Officer of Banke, Shrawan Kumar Pokharel, said that 49 injured individuals were brought to Nepalgunj for treatment. 

“Unfortunately, one individual died on the way, two have successfully recovered and returned home. Currently, 46 individuals are undergoing treatment at Bheri Hospital,” said Pokharel. 

“The health condition of all the injured individuals is steadily improving, and they are out of danger,” he added. 

A 19-year-old pregnant girl, who unborn baby has passed away when she got injured, has now recovered and is in stable health, he said.

According to Bheri Hospital, the girl underwent a normal delivery after she was administered medication to induce labour.  Information Officer of Bheri Hospital Dr. Sanket Kumar Risal said due to the dedicated efforts of the doctors and healthcare workers who have been working tirelessly since Saturday morning, the health of all the injured individuals has significantly improved.

Risal said when they were brought to the hospital for treatment on Saturday, the condition of six individuals was extremely critical.

Focal Person of District Emergency Operation Center Banke, Naresh Shrestha, said among the injured admitted to the hospital, 24 are women, 22 men and 16 children.

Shrestha informed that a three-year-old girl who sustained injuries during Monday’s aftershock was transported to Bheri Hospital for treatment on Tuesday morning.

According to Shrestha, 30 individuals from Jajarkot, 15 from Rukum West and one from Salyan are now undergoing treatment at Bheri Hospital. 

Five additional injured individuals were brought to Bheri Hospital on Monday and Tuesday morning, he added. 

Chairman of the Bheri Hospital Development Committee, Birendra Bahadur Shah, informed that all the injured individuals are receiving treatment free of charge. 

He also asked people not to spread baseless rumours regarding the matter.
