Kathmandu: There is competition in providing assistance in the earthquake-affected areas of Jajarkot and Rukum between neighboring countries India and China. Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, as well as NC leader Purna Bahadur Khadka, are involved in coordinating Indian assistance, while China has provided assistance through Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha. He also holds the position of the Vice Chairman of the NCP (Maoist) party. In recent times, Khadka has been seen as a minister with close ties to India and Shrestha to China.

India handover relief materials to DPM Khadka

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the losses Nepal has suffered due to the Jajarkot earthquake. He emphasized India’s full support to the Nepali government and people. Prime Minister Pushp Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ thanked Prime Minister Modi for India’s commitment to help Nepal during this challenging time.

Nepal has received relief materials worth NPR 100 million (approximately 15 crore 88 lakh 1 thousand 756 Nepali Rupees) from the Indian government.

The Indian Embassy in Nepal has conveyed the relief materials, and they were handed over to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Purna Bahadur Khadka, by the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Navin Srivastava.

The relief materials were transported to Nepalgunj from New Delhi by an Indian Air Force aircraft. The aircraft carried more than 11 tons of emergency relief materials.

The relief materials include tents, tarpaulins, blankets, sleeping bags, portable ventilators, medical equipment, and essential medicines for the earthquake-affected people. Deputy Chief of Mission Prashant Srivastava handed over the materials to Mayor Prashant Vistko and Chief District Officer Shravan Kumar Pokharel at Nepalgunj Airport.

The Indian Air Force aircraft had arrived in Nepalgunj with the relief materials from the Indian government. Navin Srivastava, the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, was present at the airport. This assistance from India is a part of the ongoing efforts to provide support to Nepal after the earthquake.

Meanwhile, The Indian government has sent the 2nd batch of emergency relief aid materials for those affected by the earthquakes in Nepal on Tuesday also.

The assignment from the Indian government was handed over to the chief district officer of Banke, Shravan Kumar Pokharel, in Nepalgunj, which was received in the presence of Deputy Chief of Mission Prashant Srivastava, based at the Indian Embassy here.

A total of nine tons of relief materials, including essential medical and sanitation supplies, tents, tarpaulins, blankets, sleeping bags, and medicines, were transported to Nepalgunj by a special Indian Air Force aircraft C-130.

The transfer of these relief materials to Nepal after the earthquake that occurred on October 17 is a part of the Indian government’s efforts to assist the Nepali government.

This is the second shipment following the first batch of more than 11 tons of emergency relief materials that India transferred to the Nepali government on October 19.

Chinese PLA Air Force Sends Two Cargo Planes with Relief Materials

Relief Materials Valued at NPR 280 Million (Approximately 28 Crore) Arrive in Pokhara from the Chinese Government to Aid Earthquake Victims in Jajarkot and Rukum West.

China had previously announced that it would provide relief materials worth NPR 1 billion to Nepal in response to the earthquake. The materials that have arrived in Pokhara are in addition to this.

Two cargo planes from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force carrying relief materials for earthquake victims arrived in Pokhara on Wednesday.

At the Pokhara International Airport, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha received the Chinese relief materials.

In that morning, the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, and his team arrived in Pokhara with the relief materials. Suresh Kaji Shrestha, the personal secretary of Prime Minister Shrestha, confirmed that China has sent approximately 600 tents and 4,600 blankets, equivalent to NPR 30 million (approximately 150,000 USD) worth of relief materials.

The Chinese military aircraft brought the materials, and an additional NPR 10 million (approximately 50,000 USD) worth of relief materials will be sent from Kerung-Rasuwa Border, according to Suresh Kaji Shrestha. China has already sent NPR 10 million (approximately 50,000 USD) worth of relief materials earlier.

The United States Embassy in Nepal has also expressed its commitment to provide necessary assistance to Nepal to aid in recovery efforts following the earthquake.
