Tilaurakot will be listed in World Heritage Site: Minister Kirati

Taulihawa, Nov.24: Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati said that Tilaurakot will be listed in the World Heritage Site by including it as a National Pride Project. 

Taking stock, of the ancient Tilaurakot where the palace of King Sudhdhodhan and the 29 years of life lived by Gautam Buddha, Minister Kirati said that the government is moving forward to list Tilaurakot in the World Heritage Site by incorporating it into National Pride Projects. 

He said, “We are speeding up our attempts to get this place, Tilaurakot, listed in the World Heritage List.”

Tilaurakot will protect the national pride, and history, preserve the environment and protect the culture. It took time to excavate and verify the underground structure, which prolonged the selection process. 

Preparations are being made to send the final proposed selection document for Tilaurakot to be listed as a World Heritage Site. As per the requirement to make it on the World Heritage Site, the proposed nomination document of the first phase was presented at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Centre in September.  

Said that recommendations and discussions in the matter are being made by referring to the national and international experts for the proposed nomination document of the second phase. 

There was a participation of the national and international experts while inspecting the place.
