Bhotkhola sees vehicle for first time

Sankhuwasabha, Nov. 28: A vehicle reached Bhotkhola Rural Municipality, the remotest local level in Sankhuwasabha district, for the first time.  A Land Rover, which had left from the district headquarters of Khandbari, was the first vehicle to reach the village.

A road track to Bhotkhola was opened five years ago.

However, in the lack of a bridge over the Barun River and the poor condition of the road, no vehicle had reached the village.

Meanwhile, Bishal Khadka drove the Land Rover (Ba 3 Cha 1663) at a time when the water level had declined in the river and some road sections were repaired.

“The vehicle reached up to Lingam with great difficulty as the road was still in bad shape.

If the road is repaired and blacktopped, the travel to Bhotkhola would be easy and entertaining,” said Khadka.

From Lingam to the major market place of Bhotkhola, the locals welcomed the vehicle and passengers in different places.

The driver was also honoured by the locals for bringing a vehicle to the place for the first time in its history.

Meanwhile, authorities informed that the road to Bhotkhola was being repaired and upgraded. A motorable bridge is also said to be under construction over the Barun River.

A road track is also being opened from Bhotkhola’s Chyamtang by the Nepali Army.

The road track is being opened to connect Kimathanka, a border point with China.

After the completion of the overall project, the North-South Koshi Highway will be the shortest highway of Nepal connecting both India and China.
