PM to visit Uganda to attend NAM meet

Kathmandu, Jan. 11: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is embarking on a visit to Uganda beginning from January 19 to 20.   

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday took the decision to this effect, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said, while making the Cabinet decisions public on Wednesday.

According to Minister Sharma, Prime Minister Prachanda will participate in the 19th Conference of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Member Nations to be held in Uganda’s capital Kampala. 

Before this, it was decided to form a Nepali delegation under the leadership of Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Prakash Saud for the official meeting on January 17 and 18 and the ministerial meeting of the member states.

The government has extended the term of the probe committee regarding the purchase and sale of Ncell shares till January 29. The committee was formed according to the Cabinet decision on December 7. 

Similarly, the Cabinet has decided to transfer Rs. 2 billion amount to the Disaster Management Fund from the amount available in the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for the earthquake victims in Jajarjkot and other districts. 

Minister Sharma said that it has been decided to form a negotiation team headed by the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance to receive USD 100 million in concessional loan assistance from the World Bank. 

Similarly, the Cabinet Meeting endorsed the visit of the Minister for Finance Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat to take part in the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summitt-2024 to be held in India from January 9 to 12. 

The government has also decided 

to appoint the chairperson and expert members to determine compensation for private land and other structures within the right of way of the Godak Soyat 132 KV transmission line project in ward numbers 9, 10 and 11 Ilam Municipality to maintain 18 metres right of way, nine metres each on right and left side of the project.

Similarly, the government has extended the work procedure-2023 prepared as per the Section 42 of the Enforced Disappearances, Enquiry, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act, 2014, till July 15, 2024, and decided to issue the Order to Remove Difficulty in the Nepal Gazette and allowed the government to table the same order in the House of Representatives. 

The government has also appointed Devendra Raj Dhakal of Nepal Judicial Service to the position of Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court following his promotion. 

Likewise, the government transferred Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to the Office of the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission (NNFRC) as secretary and Secretary Ram Krishna Subedi of the Commission to the Ministry.
