PM Prachanda directs to solve problems of cooperatives

Kathmandu, Jan 17: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has directed the respective ministries to solve issues related to cooperatives promptly. 

In a discussion at Baluwatar on Wednesday morning, the PM said that the cooperatives need to be managed by devising short-term and immediate measures while adding that the Act needs to be managed in such a way that becomes a medium to plant the embryo of socialism, collectiveness and work in the interest of people at the lower strata. 

PM Prachanda has directed the respective ministries and agencies to do the necessary homework for making long-term and immediate measures in line with solving the issues of cooperatives.  

Saying that PM has to make a separate effective regulatory agency to monitor the cooperatives and direct existing cooperatives’ regulatory bodies to table the report by classifying them as ‘Good, In Trouble and Collapsed’. 

He urged to secure the fixed deposits of denizens and pointed out that effective measures need to be taken in coordination by three tiers of government. 

The meeting was graced by Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Ranjita Shrestha, and  Baikuntha Aryal, Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal, along with ministers of respective ministries, officials of department and agencies.
