Taplejung, Feb. 8: Newly transferred Chief of the Koshi Province Police Office, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Chandra Kuber Khapung has said that he is committed to shouldering the responsibility remaining within the jurisdiction of the province police.
DIG Khapung, who came to Taplejung for the first time after becoming the Koshi Province Police Chief on Tuesday, said this during a meeting with local journalists.
He said that he would carry out his responsibilities within the jurisdiction of the province and federal police structure adhering to the constitutional norms without resorting to any cheap popularity. He said that the powers of the police should be implemented with sincerity. He said that he would carry out the responsibilities without being prejudiced.
DIG Khapung said that no compromise would be made in the work of providing peace and security as people have great trust and expectations from the police.
He also instructed the police personnel under the province to commit to work according to the assigned rights and responsibilities.
In a different context, Deputy Inspector General Khapung said that the differences regarding the cable car project proposed to be built in Pathibhara should be resolved through mutual coordination. He said that the police organisation was in favour of managing the cable car project without any differences.
He also said that there was no immediate possibility of the management requiring the vacancy of Nepal Police personnel to the province police office.
DIG Khapung said that since the issue of police adjustment was being raised at the provincial level and federal level, he expressed his belief that the issue of police adjustment and required manpower would only be addressed through the Provincial Police Act and the relevant provincial government.
