Ruling alliance meeting: To stay united in national issues

Kathmandu, Oct.23: The meeting of the ruling alliance held today dwelt on the progress of the government in 100 days, current events and to move forward with unity holding common views on issues of national interests.

In the meeting held at the PM’s official residence, Baluwatar, it was informed that the government is working with clarity and firmly on issues of democratic system, rule of law, good governance and service delivery to people. 

It was informed in the meeting that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will address the achievements of the overall work on the occasion of the 100 days of government at Singha Durbar on 3 PM today. 

Minister of Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak informed the participants in the meeting that the former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane was arrested during the implementation of the report unanimously prepared by the parliamentary special committee formed to investigate the embezzlement of funds in various cooperatives.

He said that it is not appropriate to protest in order to put pressure on the court and the government when a judicial investigation is being conducted in a criminal case.

It was agreed in the meeting that the parties in the ruling coalition will issue a statement on behalf of their sides and request for judicial investigation and democratic system to proceed in a fair manner. 

CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel said that the meeting has made a decision to hold another meeting on the government’s work so far and future planning’s at 3 PM on October 25 and to make common perceptions public. 

In the meeting, Prime Minister Oli stressed that the parties in the government need to be united and should come as a unit, clarifying that they are committed to the democratic system, values and recognition.

The PM said that there will be no compromise on the issue of protecting national harmony and interests.

PM Oli said, “We fought for the democracy, and we only accept democracy. We condemn anarchy and unwanted activities. We are committed to making people sovereign. Our determination and commitment has not deterred and we are clear about it,” according to the PM’s private secretariat.
