Kathmandu, Nov 18: Senior Vice Chair of CPN (UML) Ishwar Pokharel has emphasized that the relationship between Nepal and China should be extended to the people’s level.
Addressing a special programme organized by the Huai’an Province government on Sunday, Pokharel, who is on a visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party’s Foreign Affairs Department, said that it is necessary to increase sisterly relations between the provinces and local levels of the two countries in order to expand the relationship at the peoples’ level.
“There is a deep historical relationship between China and the government of Nepal and the Chinese Communist Party and the UML. Now it is necessary to expand relations at the public level as well,” he said. He recalled that the visit of the Chief Minister of Lumbini province last week to the sister province of Sichuan and the head of Tibet’s Nachu province to the sister city of Tokha Municipality contributed significantly to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
He also mentioned that history, geography, political, religious, cultural and other historical aspects are witnesses of friendship. The Governor of the People’s Government of Huai Province and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Huai’an Province Wang Zhongling discussed that the relations between China and Nepal are good and the future is bright, and said that there are many areas of cooperation.
Liu Chihong, vice president of the university, discussed the exchange of cooperation in the expansion of scientific education and expressed his belief that further progress will be made in the future. A 15-member delegation led by Pokharel is currently visiting China at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party Foreign Affairs Department. (RSS)
